St. John’s College of Nursing is a pioneer Nursing College a unit under the St. John’s National Academy of Health Sciences, governed by the CBCI Society for Medical Education. It enters the 46th year of its existence in Nursing Education. Right from its inception in 1980, it endeavours to equip students with competencies necessary for rendering holistic care in all evolving settings. The programmes offered are General Nursing & Midwifery (GNM), Basic B.Sc. Nursing, Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing, M.Sc. Nursing, Nurse Practitioner in Critical Care (NPCC), Post Basic Diploma in Nursing Courses & Ph.D. in Nursing (Med.Surg.Nsg.).
The College is recognized by the Indian Nursing Council and Karnataka State Nursing Council and affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka (RGUHS) and Karnataka State Diploma in Nursing Examination Board (KSDNEB).
The Department of Nursing has adopted dual role (integration of Nursing Education & Service) since July 2013, with the ultimate aim of quality nursing education and quality patient care.

3 years diploma course recognized by Government of Karnataka, approved by Karnataka Nursing council, Bangalore and Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi.
Eligibility Criteria:
i) Minimum age for admission will be 17 years and there is no age bar.
ii) Pass in 10+2 with English and must have obtained a minimum of 40% at the
qualifying examination and English individually from any recognized board.
Candidates are also eligible from State Open School recognized by State
Government and National Institute of Open School (NIOS) recognized by
Central Government. However, Science is preferable.
OR
10+2 with English having 40% of marks in Vocational Stream-Health care
Science from a recognized CBSE board/Centre.
iii) Religious Sisters, who apply should have completed one year after their first
religious profession.
iv) Students awaiting results also may apply.
Admission to B.Sc. Nursing Courses is through Common Entrance Test -2026 conducted by Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA).
As per Govt. order No. MED 51 RGU 2023 dated 13/04/2023 for admission to B.Sc. (Nursing) course, candidates need to appear for KCET examination conducted by KEA. For further information regarding KCET Examination & admission procedure please log on to KEA website - http://kea.kar.nic.in
Eligibility Criteria:
i) The candidates should have completed 17 years of age on or before 31st December, 2026
ii) Minimum Educational qualification is pass in the Pre-University Examination of
Karnataka Board of Pre-University Education with an aggregate of 45% in
Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects (40% for SC, ST& OBC
Candidates) or any other examination recognized by Rajiv Gandhi University of
Health Sciences as equivalent to 2 years PUC. Pass in English subject in PUC is
Mandatory.
Equivalency is determined only by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore.
iii) Students awaiting results may also apply.
iv) Religious Sisters should have completed one year after their religious profession.
No age bar for admission.
2 year post basic degree recognized by Government of Karnataka, approved by Karnataka Nursing council, Bangalore and Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi & affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore.
Eligibility Criteria:
i) Pass in Pre-University Examination of Karnataka or its equivalent which is
recognized by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences.
ii) Posses certificates of General Nursing and Midwifery from a recognized School
of Nursing.
iii) Be a Registered Nurse under Karnataka State Nursing Council.
iv) Be a Member of TNAI
2 year Post Graduate course recognized by Government of Karnataka, approved by Karnataka Nursing council, Bangalore and Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi & affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore.
Eligibility Criteria:
i) Minimum Educational qualification is B.Sc. Nursing Degree / Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing Degree from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka or any other University considered equivalent by the RGUHS.
ii) Registration with Karnataka State Nursing Council.
iii) One year Experience in any clinical / teaching areas, either in a hospital or in a community. One year Experience will be counted w.e.f. the date of Registration with the State Nursing council. For P.B.B.Sc. Nursing Candidates, one year experience can be either before or after P.B.B.Sc. Nursing degree.
iv) 55% marks in first attempt at B.Sc./P.B.B.Sc. Nursing Examination. For SC/ST of Karnataka State only 50% marks required.
Admissions for Nurse Practitioner in Critical Care Nursing (NPCC) Course at St. John’s College of Nursing with an intake of 05 seats.
Duration of the course is 2 years (for details refer the Admission Bulletin on St. John’s Website).

Eligibility Criteria:
i) Applicants must possess a registered B.Sc. Nursing Degree / PBB.Sc Nursing with a
minimum of one-year clinical experience in any critical care setting prior to enrolment.
One year Experience will be counted w.e.f. the date of State Nursing council
Registration only
ii) Must have undergone B.Sc. Nursing in an institution recognized by INC.
iii) Must have scored not less than 55% aggregate marks in the B.Sc. programme.
iv) Should be a registered nurse in Karnataka state nursing council
Admissions for Post Basic Diploma is available for Following specialities:
- Critical Care Nursing – 10 seats
- Oncology Nursing – 10 seats
- Operation Room Nursing – 10 seats

Eligibility Criteria:
i) Be a Registered Nurse (RN&RM) under Karnataka State Nursing Council.
ii) Possess a minimum of 1 year Clinical Experience as a Staff Nurse preferably in the
specified area.
iii) Be physically fit.
iv) Nurses from other countries must obtain an Equivalence Certificate from the INC before
admission.
v) If any outside staff who have joined for this course, they are advised to resign and join
SJMCH as a staff nurse.
vi) Be a Member of TNAI.
vii) An additional incentive will be given after successful completion of the course.
