Allied health professions have evolved rapidly over recent decades in response to the growing need for a health workforce with the capability to deliver specialized health services in a range of settings. They fulfill necessary roles in the health care system, including assisting, facilitating, and complementing the work of physicians and other health care specialists. Allied Health Science Courses at St. John's National Academy of Health Sciences, run as a wing of St. John's Medical College and makes use of the infrastructure and the teaching faculty of medical college. Over 20 different related departments encompassing the pre clinical, para-clinical and clinical subjects, carry out the teaching and foster in-depth learning.
The allied health science courses were started as one year Diploma course in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT) in 1974 with 10 seats a year. The two-year Diploma course in Radiology started in 1985 with 4 seats a year. Degree courses affiliated to the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) were started in 1999 (B.Sc. in Medical laboratory technology, Medical Imaging technology, Renal Dialysis Technology and Cardiac Perfusion Technology).

· Admission is open to male and female candidates.
· Based on the performance in the entrance exam, and/or interview, the candidates will be selected for the course.
· The final list of selected candidates, will be displayed on the website www.stjohns.in and on the main Notice Board of the Medical College. No other communications will be sent to the candidate.
· St. John’s National Academy of Health Sciences has a NO CAPITATION FEE policy. The institute does not accept any donations as a consideration for admission.
· Canvassing in any form including recommendation letters, quoting familiarity with people or use of ‘agents’ to acquire admission will disqualify a candidate from the application process.
· Any concealed/wrong information will lead to disqualification of the candidate at any time.
Where false statements in the application are discovered even after admission has been granted, the admission will be cancelled without refunding the fees

Clinical Biochemistry, Microbiology & Immunology, Haematology & Blood Transfusion

Common entrance exam is held for admission to BOT and BPT
Entrance exam and interview is held for admission to M.Sc MLT/MIT
Entrance exam and interview cum seat counselling is held for admission to B.Sc courses.
Interview is held for admission to MHA, DHA & B.Sc lateral Entry. There is no entrance exam for these courses.
Mobile phones, smart watches, blue tooth earphones and other electronic gadgets, papers, chits and written material are not allowed inside the examination hall. Candidates found violating these rules will be disqualified.
Syllabus for BOT Entrance Exam: XI & XII Std- Physics, Chemistry, Biology & English
· Based on the performance in the entrance exam marks, a merit wise list of students for seat counselling (1st list) will be announced on the Institution website (www.stjohns.in) and on the Notice board in the evening on the day of the entrance examination.
· There will be an interview cum seat counselling the day after the entrance examination, as per the dates on the Admission calendar.
· The allocation of seats is done at the interview cum counselling and the candidate will proceed for Admission immediately. The candidates are called according to rank obtained in the entrance exam and choose the BSc course of their choice.
· In case a candidate does not get the BSc course of their choice, they may be put onto a course-wise waitlist, to be offered a seat in that course, in case a vacancy arises. To be eligible for this, the candidate must take admission for the currently available course and pay the fees.
· Candidates attending the interview cum seat counselling need to bring all original documents for verification and come prepared for fee payment and admission which will be done immediately as described below.
· Selected candidates on the day of Admission will have to report to the Academic section, SJMC and follow the admission protocol.
· Fee payment and admission procedures will have to be completed by 4.00 pm on the day of counselling in order to confirm the admission.
· The Admission Procedure at the Institution can be completed only after submission of II PUC/Standard XII marks card and other necessary documents as mentioned in the List of Original documents.
· The Admission at St. John’s Medical College is provisional, subject to the candidate’s fulfilling the eligibility criteria, as prescribed by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences
· All seats not confirmed by 4.00 pm on Day 1 of the counselling will be added to the pool of pending seats and will be available for 2nd round of counselling the next day.
· The list of candidates for the 2nd round of counselling will be announced at 6 p.m on Day 1 of counselling.
· The same procedure will be followed for the 2nd round counselling.
· In case of any pending seats 3rd round of counselling will be arranged, the details of which will be announced later.
Selections will be on the basis of Interview and/or performance in the qualifying exams.
Date of interview will be informed to the candidate by email.
Syllabus for Entrance Exam:
· For MSc MLT : Biochemistry, Microbiology, Pathology (including Haematology) and English
· For MSc MIT: Anatomy, Radiation Physics, Imaging Physics, Diagnostic Imaging techniques, Radiographic positioning and special procedures.
Interview
· Selection will be on the basis of Interview, performance in the qualifying exam and Pre-selection assessment of the applicant.
· Date of interview will be informed to the candidate by email.
· Selection of Candidates: DHA candidates upon receiving email notification from St. John’s, can proceed with admission as per the date intimated to them.
